Privacy Policy of MBS Billing Checklist

Overview

MBS Billing Assistant is designed to operate with minimal data use. The extension does not require user accounts, passwords, or API keys.

Information We Use

MBS Checklist Database

The extension downloads a hosted JSON file from https://shoppingdeals.au/mbs/mbs_data.json containing checklist content for MBS item numbers.

Item Number Lookup

When a user enters an item number, the extension checks that item against the downloaded checklist data inside the extension popup.

Local Storage

The extension uses Chrome local storage to save:

• Cached checklist results for faster repeat access.
• Basic local preferences, such as whether the welcome screen has been viewed.

Optional Banner Content

The extension may request a small hosted JSON file from raw.githubusercontent.com to display promotional or informational banner content in the extension popup.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

• Patient information
• Medical records
• Personal health information
• Personally identifiable information
• User accounts
• Passwords or API keys
• Browsing history
• Location information
• Payment information
• Claim submission data
• User-entered item numbers on our servers as individual requests

Third-Party Services

The extension communicates with:

• shoppingdeals.au to download the hosted MBS checklist database.
• raw.githubusercontent.com to retrieve optional banner content.

The extension may also open links to the official Australian Government MBS website when a user clicks an item link. It does not scrape or transmit page content from that website.

Data Storage

Cached checklist data and local preferences are stored locally within the user's browser using Chrome Storage.

Data Sharing

We do not collect personal data for advertising purposes. We do not sell personal data or share personal information with third parties.
