How Flight Compass works, what data it does — and doesn't — access, and how your information stays private.

Last updated: August 2026

1. What Flight Compass does

Flight Compass ("the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that lets you compare live flight fares across multiple travel booking websites in one place. You enter a route, travel dates and travellers; the extension opens the booking sites you selected in background tabs, reads the fare already displayed on each site's own search-results page, and shows those fares side by side in a dashboard so you can find and book the best deal.

2. Information the extension accesses

Website content (prices). To show you a fare, the extension reads the price text that is already rendered on a booking site's results page (for example, a fare such as "$1,156" or "₹82,356"). Only the numeric fare, its currency, and the site name are kept — the extension does not read or store your booking details, search history, or any other page content.

The extension does not collect or store any personally identifiable information, health information, financial or payment details, authentication credentials, personal communications, location, web history, or user activity.

3. How data is used and stored

  • Stored locally: Your preferences (selected sites, home country, currency) and recent searches are saved in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) only. They never leave your device.
  • Fare display: The scraped fare values are shown in the dashboard and kept locally for the current search session.
  • Helper API calls: To power airport autocomplete and currency conversion, the extension makes anonymous requests to Travelpayouts (airport search), Skypicker (airport lookup), and open.er-api.com / frankfurter.dev (exchange rates). These requests contain only the airport name you type or a currency code — no personal information.

4. Data sharing

Flight Compass does not sell, rent, or transfer your data to third parties. Data is not used for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose of comparing flight fares, and is never used for creditworthiness or lending decisions.

5. Affiliate disclosure

When you click through to a booking site from the dashboard and complete a purchase, Flight Compass may earn a commission through affiliate links at no additional cost to you. This helps keep the extension free. Fares are always read live from each site and are never influenced by any affiliate relationship.

6. Your choices

You can clear the extension's locally stored data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome. The extension requires no account and no sign-in, and you can uninstall it like any other extension.
